December 2021
We can hardly believe it’s been almost three decades since we arrived at the Collingwood St supermarket, seems that old adage “time flies when you’re having fun” really is true…
In the words of Sly and the Family Stone, it’s always been a “Family Affair” here at the corner store, and we’re not just talking about our immediate family. The corner store has been part of hundreds of Nelson’s families’ lives. Locals have worked in our store, shopped in our store and supplied our store.
We’ve seen some changes… When we started out Pasta was considered a gourmet meal and Camembert Cheese something quite foreign. Much of our wine was sold in casks and there wasn’t a beer on the shelves. These days you’ll find many hundreds of specialist and Artisan products, craft beers, local award-winning and international wines; but we haven’t forgotten our roots and we know the importance of offering value, that’s why there are also thousands of products at everyday low prices.
Over the years we have been known as the “Collingwood St Supermarket”, and we have operated as Super Value, Super Value Plus, New World and Fresh Choice; but our values have always remained the same… Be local and support local.
These values are the foundation of our Community Fund, which has given us the opportunity to donate money and assistance to organisations and individuals as often as we can; we consider this part of being a good neighbour.
We’ve had plenty of fun along the way, having enjoyed kicking off the Collingwood St Trolley Derby back in the day and running the 6 2 9 Session breakfast show on Fresh FM with Matt Lawry.
We’re delighted to introduce our brand new modern store and relish the opportunity to be part of the community for another 20 years.
We’re looking after the planet with energy-saving equipment and offering a fresh approach to providing the most up to date range of healthy and, wherever possible, local food and beverages.
We want to say a big thank you to you; our wonderful customers for helping us get here. Thanks for supporting local business, the lifeblood of our region.
